Scholastic Book Fair
October 2022
We Did It!
Thank you Everyone!
After waiting 3 long years for the book fair, it did not disappoint!
Everyone had such a great time!
Our volunteers had fun and made new friends.
Several even signed up for extra days of working, because they had such a good time.
Our students were ecstatic to be able to browse the fair’s collection with their classmates again.
It was like their very own private bookstore.
Curated just for them.
With the wide range of selection, everyone could find something that sparked their interest.
Not to mention all of the cool and silly stuff!
That’s always a hit!
Students were pooling their last bit of money together to get matching items.
Siblings were buying books and gifts for their little sisters and brothers who were home sick.
Grandparents, aunts and uncles were adding to their student’s eWallets.
We gave away 19 free books in a school-wide drawing. 2 books per grade.
We gave away free books to preschoolers, kindergartners and a few more deserving children who hadn’t money to buy.
All of my volunteers, as always, were emptying out their wallets of change, dollar bills, and even tapping their credit and debit cards helping children buy the book of their dreams.
One generous family donated $100 to buy books, for those who had none.
It was a fun whirlwind of a week!
Wow!!
…and it’s not over!
Our online book fair continues until October 30th.
If you still have eWallet credit then log on to our Scholastic Book Fair link to keep shopping.
Even if you don’t have an eWallet, you can keep shopping too.
Think Christmas gifts!
Get it all done now and our school will receive a profit from your purchases.
Again, thank you for supporting our library through the
Scholastic Book Fair.

Fair breakdown will be Friday, Oct. 21 at 11 am.

THE GHOSTS OF BOOK FAIRS PAST!
*****
**
Thank you all… again…
for making our 2018-19 Book Fairs a success!!
Our Spring Scholastic Book Fair was very successful, and it’s all due to you!
Thank you to my returning volunteers, and a few new ones too.
Setting up my fair is a breeze with Nicole Silva, Charlotte Rohrbough and Melissa Perez!
And, of course, Nancy Hallford and Adam Bookspan are both wonderful.
I’ve come to count on them so much throughout the week of the fair.
They have been working with me, for quite a few years now!
Why? I don’t know… because they’re wonderful??!!
It’s the only answer!!
With Adam’s daughter graduating this year we’re going to be at a loss, Nancy!!
Whatever will we do??
Hmmmm… I’m thinking… Matthew Weber???
We sold well over $8600 worth of merchandise this week.
That’s awesome!!
You know, the book fair is the only fundraiser for our library, so every sale goes a long way in purchasing new titles for the best room in the house [school]!!
We love our library!!
Just the other day, a rainstorm blew in… several boys were so happy
they got stuck over here in the library!
That meant a lot to me!
Some have even commented to me that it smells like home when they walk in the library.
That meant even more!!
I feel quite privileged to be able to run the library, and at the same time be here
with the students making them feel at home.
Helping them feel that this is the place where they’d like to get stuck in a rainstorm!
Two former students who are now next door in John Carroll HS
stopped by a week, or two ago.
They just wanted to come over and be in the library again for a little while, they said.
They missed it!!
The boys had realized now, how nice the library really was, and how big it is.
It didn’t seem so big when they were here, but now in coming back it seemed gigantic.
Well, it is pretty big and we love it!!
I love to hear all the sweet and sometimes silly sentiments.
They never get old!!
So, with that said I thank you all again,
for supporting our library through our annual book fairs.
It means so much to me, and all of our students who love the library!
We couldn’t do it without you!
HAPPY SPRING EVERYONE!!

A big thank you to all my volunteers too!
Congratulations to Liz & Adolfo Lantigua who created and own
Good News! Book Fair.
They have put together such a great collection of Christian and Catholic titles, as well as gift items.
I know they will be growing it everyday, so let’s keep them in our prayers as they do.
I was very pleased with our total sales for this new book fair and hope to see Good News! back again.

The Autumnal Equinox is upon us!!
What does that mean, you ask?
It means the end of summer!
On a happier note, it also means the official start of the Fall season
with cooler weather, gorgeous colors, apple cider, pumpkins and bonfires.
More importantly, there’s FUN at the
Fall Book Fair & Harvest Fest which will be happening soon!!
This year we are proud to host a new company
for our Fall Fair~

We offer more than Bibles and saints biographies.
We have fun and wholesome, age appropriate picture books, middle grade fiction, and
young adult novels for teens!
Titles are leveraging many genres including: mysteries, thrillers, action/adventure, historical fiction, and non-fiction that captures the interest of school students while also introducing and/or reinforcing faith and virtue related themes.
The products are selected from top Catholic publishers and other Christian denomination gift companies. We have T-shirts, custom jewelry, and other fun items to sell.”

Thank you all so very much for coming to the book fair.
For those of you who worked along side me at the fair…

I am so lucky to have you as volunteers!
I think we all had a great time together working with the kids,
constantly answering a million questions and just all-around marathon cleaning and straightening!
It is fun though!
You have to admit that.
We laughed, we cried, we yelled! Just kidding… kind of.
The students love, love, love the book fair!
They’re already asking when the next one is.
FYI
We sold over $10, 800 in Scholastic merchandise!
WOW!!
We were just shy of last year’s Fall book fair total by about $1000.

A LOOK BACK AT LAST YEAR….
2015-16
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Scholastic Book Fairs!
We had so much fun! Not to mention how successful they both were financially. Wow!
We really do appreciate you!
Our students love, love, love the book fair. Rightly so!
Not long ago, an online thread was circulating about Scholastic Book Fair. Tons of kids all over the country who are grown now, still remember and loved when they were in elementary and middle school shopping the book fair.
They even remember how it felt not having any money to shop with. How mad they were at their moms and dads too! Hah!
That’s why it’s fun to have give-away’s! Everyone likes to have their names picked from a book fair bucket. Wouldn’t you?
Also, our students are encouraged to donate those leftover pennies, nickels and dimes from their change. We use it for other students who may run a little short on money, or to go towards books for classrooms.
So, thank you again… even for those little leftover pennies, nickels and dimes!
They mean a lot!
Hey, here’s some happy shoppers!
